In other words, we can say that in relative dating the archaeologist determines that which of the two fossil or the artifacts are older.Contrary to this, absolute dating is the technique, using which the exact age of the artifacts, fossils, or sites are ascertained.But the faults do not appear to continue into the coal seam, and they certainly do not continue into the upper sandstone.So we can infer that coal seam is younger than the faults (because it disrupts them), and of course the upper sandstone is youngest of all, because it lies on top of the coal seam.To evaluate the exact age, both the chemical and physical properties of the object are looked keenly.The main techniques used in absolute dating are carbon dating, annual cycle method, trapped electron method, and the atomic clocks.
